THE GREEN MACHINE — three 911 generations in one car

The mature technology of the 964. The electrical assistants of the 993. The lines of the F-model. A backdate, entirely from our workshop — certified by the TÜV, the German vehicle inspection authority, and registered with a historic H plate.

The idea

More than 40 years of experience with air-cooled 911s have gone into this car. Thomas Lundt wanted to unite the strengths of three generations in one car — as a drivable car for the road, not a showpiece. All modifications are registered and approved by the TÜV; the car also carries the historic H plate.

Body

The basis was a 964 Carrera 4 Coupé from August 1990 — from the era many purists consider the peak of the air-cooled 911. The car was completely stripped to the bare shell, the body ice-blasted and then converted: rear side panels from the Carrera RS, luggage-compartment lid and front wings in GRP, engine lid, bumpers (911 S at the front, Carrera RS at the rear) and sill covers in the style of the F-models.

Technology

The 3.6-litre engine of the 964 was completely dismantled, overhauled and optimised — measured on the test bench, it delivers a stable 290 hp, joined by a twin-flow stainless-steel exhaust system. The gearbox was replaced with a rebuilt 5-speed unit, a new clutch fitted. We converted the all-wheel drive to rear-wheel drive (Carrera 2); springing is handled by a Bilstein suspension. New Fuchs wheels (THE RETRO FUCHSFELGE®) in 7×17 and 9×17 inches with new tyres complete the chassis.

Colour and interior

The car is painted in Irish Green — applied true to the original in the single-stage process the classic models had. Inside: seats newly upholstered in "Anis" leather, a custom-made carpet, classic instruments in retro style. Yet nobody has to do without comfort: air conditioning, seat heating, a sunroof and a Porsche Classic Radio (PCCM) are on board.

Since its completion in April 2020, the car has covered around 1,900 kilometres — run in and set up.

The first of its kind — not necessarily the last

THE GREEN MACHINE has been sold. On the basis of a 964 provided by you, we will build such a car in a different specification as well — exterior colour, wheels and interior to your ideas. To restoration → · To the Carrera RS 2.7 →
